Three and a Half Stars

This book might rate 3 and ½ stars, but I would not give it 4 of 5. There are two redeeming aspects about it. The first: it has many classic articles in the philosophy of religion, ranging from, Aquinas, Avicenna, Anselm to Hume, Hick, Mackie and more. The second: it tries to appropriate from eastern and western sources in the philosophy of religion. The problem of evil, ontological and cosmological argument, on religious rationality and plurality are addressed significantly. The major drawback is that I found at least 13 of the 65 selections to be either wholly abstract, obtuse, or unintelligible and therefore worthless or irrelevant. Admittedly that still leaves 80% of the book as fairly sound, intelligible and well-written. But most of these bad 13 selections were so arcane, worded in specialized jargon at the PhD level that they simply should be discarded (in my view, selections 3, 5, 12, 13, 19, 27, 31, 50, 56, 57, 61, 63, and 65 were meaningless, flawed or confuse contributions). They might belong in post-graduate book, but not in an undergraduate textbook on the philosophy of religion. If that is in fact what this is intended to achieve, I do not think it quite succeeds in fulfilling it as well as it should. In my view, there must be better classic selections that could have filled their place.

it's like Fran's talking to you in person

Well, actually I don't read biographies, but I'm a very big fan of Fran since I saw her the first time as "The Nanny", and so I thought to read her book would be a little fun, but it was a lot more than "only a little fun"... Most of the time it was a night of laughing, but sometimes really hard to read what happened to Fran... But nevertheless: it is one of the best books I've ever read! And it containes really great pics of Fran, her family, Chester and so on... I loved the book so much that I bought the audio version, too. It makes a lot of fun to hear it while driving my car. I LOVE her voice! I really hope Fran will write a second book... So, for any fan of Fran: read this book! It will be seem to you like Fran's sitting right in front of you and tells the story of her life only for you! Fran, you're the BEST! Judith

Riveting

What a fantastic book! It's written as though Fran Drescher is there talking to you and I've never read anything so funny in my life.
This woman has been through SO much and yet remains positive and happy. You laugh out loud one minute, then find yourself crying the next, only to start laughing again as you turn the page. It's almost like reading the diary of a friend, it's written so naturally.
You find out how Fran strives to reach stardom and all about her husband and family and it even touches on her terrible ordeal at the hands of a rapist in her own home.
You also get a great insight to her hit show, 'The Nanny,' with some amusing behind the scene's stories and pictures. In fact there's pictures galore throughout the whole book and by the end of it you feel like you're one of the family too.
Even if you're not a fan of Fran's, it's a great read about one woman's struggles and joys on her journey through life. I assure you, you'll find it hard to put down once you've started to read.
Just buy it and see.

Wow - what can I say? A great, gossipy, girl-next-door novel from the nasally voiced girl from Queens. Having read Cancer Schmancer and knowing what happens with her and Peter Marc Jacobson, parts of this novel were really sad. It is so obvious that she was very deeply in love with her husband and I wish they could have worked it out because they went through so much together.
Catty Ms. Drescher is not. She tells stories on herself and you have no doubt that she is as lovely in real life as she is in her books. How could she not be?

I love most of Lynne Graham's book, but the hero on this one

is so verbally abusive to the heroine and she just keeps

hanging her head and taking it until the end of the story

usually in most of her books, if the heroine is a dormat in the beginning she becomes a fighter towards the end, this one

remained one until the very end.

Not Lynne's best but still way above the rest!

Lynne Graham's books are so well written that it's shocking that a reader can give her book a one star. Lynne Graham is my favorite author, and I've given most of her books a five-star rating, but I have given this book 4 stars because although the chemistry is wonderful between the hero and heroine, I did not feel it was as intense as in most of her other books because there is only one major love scene at the middle of the book and a short one at the end. Lynne's heroes are very powerful personalities and in their misunderstanding of the heroines, they can verbally be quite cruel, but the heroines always tell them off. The interaction between them is great, whether they're making love or arguing. Do not let a one-star review by another reader deter you from buying this book. This book has a great story, wonderful chemistry, beautiful setting, superb dialogue, and if you like the type of heroes (gorgeous, powerful, billionaires) and heroines (virginal, Cinderella-types) that Lynne writes about, then this book cannot be rated lower than four stars.

Lucia Gorea, PhD, is a widely published writer, an award-winning poet, and an experienced English and ESL teacher. With degrees in English, French, and TESL, and a PhD in English and Education, Dr. Gorea hastaught Academic English, English as a Second Language, EnglishLiterature, and Language and Culture courses in universities and colleges in Canada, the United States and Europe. Lucia is the author of several articles and books, including ESL Gamesand Classroom Activities, Welcome to America! A Practical Guide to Life Survival Skills, and Journey Through My Soul, a collection of love and mystical poems. She has performed readings and has given lectures in Canada and the U.S., and has made many television appearances on Rompost TV, Channel M. Lucia is a certified translator with the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters and the founder and host of "Poetry Around the World", a multicultural poetry group. Lucia's biographical profile is included in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in American Education, International Who's Who of Professional and Business Women, and Marquis Who's Who encyclopedias. Lucia has two manuscripts in print and is currently working on her first novel. Speak English for Success review

Has some fun and interesting activities for ESL students. I would have given it five stars, but have found I needed to change parts of some of the activities to make the exercise move along faster and be more challenging. Example: the board games where there are too many "lose a turn" which I found made the game go on too long.

It might have endured for years had she not fallen pregnant at 17 with Batley's baby. In February 2008 she gave birth to a daughter, Emily, who gave Annabelle hope and a reason to live. Now she knew she had to escape, especially after Batley forced her into prostitution when Emily was three months old. She contacted relatives and found the courage to report Batley, her mother and the other cult members to the police. In 2011 her evidence helped convict 48-year-old Batley for life on 11 charges of rape and numerous other sexual offences.Annabelle's mother was also jailed, along with two others in a case that came to be known as the 'cul-de-sac cult'. Today she lives a happy and settled life with Emily and her partner but the nightmares of her damaged past will haunt her forever.

Astonished and captivating

The minute I tuned into "Nightmare in suburbia - The cul de sac sex cult" - I immediately turned the telly off and download the Amazon book. This shockingly true story had me captivated and horrified from beginning to end and I could not put this book down. With tears streaming down my face my admiration for this young lady ensuring that justice was served, over and above her trauma, has left me happy and angry - an excellent read!

A Most Remarkable Story

This book will bring tears to your eyes for it is one of the most shocking accounts of child abuse ever told by a victim.

Well done to the victim for sharing this real life nightmare that she endured for too many years. Her story is a very disturbing one indeed. It makes one wonder to what extent it could be happening in other places, to other innocent girls.

Her story is about her 'hell on earth childhood' and how she was intentionally manipulated, brainwashed, abused and psychologically tortured from a very young age, growing up within a secret religious sex cult.

Despite her ordeal, however, she managed to find the strength to overcome her evil predicament, survive the trauma and pain, and help see justice done.

Despite all she endured, what is truly inspiring is how she was able to put it all behind her and become a normal caring loving person who finally found happiness and a positive attitude to life.

A must read book!

Written in the perfect style for this kind of story. It takes you away to the memories of Annabelle Foster. Its unbelievable she went through so much and still found the strength and courage to keep going and start a new life. I admire her and I hope she bringing hope to people who have been or are in a similar situation.

I found renal physiology to be difficult to grasp until I read this book. This book is excellent because the clinical cases and examples are easy to follow. You NEED this book for your renal exam and for the boards. I never understood all of the hypertonic hyponatremia, etc. stuff until I read this book. This book is complete yet easy to read. You won't regret this purchase!

This is an excellent review that clarifies all of the ideas presented in the first years of medical school. It is very useful in helping to grasp the essentials of basic pathophysiology of the kidney. Straighforward and easy to read with good explanations and useful review problems.
